The Bharatiya Janata Party has got a new national president. Young leader Nitin Naveen from Bihar has been unanimously elected as the party’s 12th national president. With his elevation, not only has a clear picture of leadership transition emerged within the BJP organisation, but the central government has also upgraded his security cover. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to provide Nitin Naveen with Z-category security.
According to sources, the decision has been taken on the basis of a threat perception report prepared by the Intelligence Bureau. Nitin Naveen’s security will now be handled by specially trained commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force. This security arrangement will remain in force during his tours and public programmes across the country. Along with Z-category security, his movement protocol has also been tightened.
The formal announcement of the election to the post of national president was made on Tuesday at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. As no other candidate filed a nomination, Nitin Naveen was elected unopposed. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him by garlanding him.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said that organisation is supreme in the BJP and that he considers himself an ordinary party worker. Referring to Nitin Naveen as his “boss”, the Prime Minister conveyed a message of trust and respect for the new president within the organisation.
Before assuming charge as national president, Nitin Naveen visited prominent religious sites in Delhi, including the Bhagwan Valmiki Temple, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and Jhandewalan Temple. This was seen as a symbol of spiritual faith and balance ahead of taking charge. At 45, Nitin Naveen has become the youngest national president in the history of the BJP.
As soon as the news of his appointment broke, celebrations began in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Party workers celebrated at BJP offices and major intersections by beating drums, distributing sweets and bursting firecrackers. The active participation of a large number of women workers made the celebrations even more special.
It is noteworthy that Nitin Naveen was appointed working national president of the BJP on December 14, 2025. Given his organisational experience, strong grassroots connect and popularity among the youth, he is expected to provide new direction and fresh energy to the party. Political analysts believe that the grant of Z-category security and open support from the top leadership indicate that Nitin Naveen’s role in national politics is set to become even stronger in the coming days.
