A minor parking dispute in Bhival Patti village, Kushinagar district, turned violent when a Muslim man was asked to remove his pickup truck from the road. What began as a simple disagreement quickly escalated, resulting in the man being tied with ropes and brutally beaten.
According to reports, a local resident named Ritesh asked Azharuddin to move his pickup, which was blocking the road. The request led to an argument that soon turned into a physical altercation. It is alleged that during the clash, Azharuddin attacked Ritesh with a knife, injuring him. Following this, Ritesh’s relatives and other villagers arrived at the scene and restrained Azharuddin by tying him with ropes. A viral video shows Azharuddin being dragged on the ground and beaten mercilessly. Witnesses stated that Ritesh’s mother pleaded with the crowd to release him, but no one heeded her calls.
In response to the incident, the police have launched an investigation. Rajiv Singh, officer at Vishnupura police station, said the viral video is being examined and strict action will be taken against the perpetrators. He also appealed to the public to maintain peace.
The incident has created tension in the area. Muslim organizations have strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate action against those responsible. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind emphasized that the police must ensure the law is applied equally to all, warning that failure to do so could encourage mob rule.
Local resident Mohammad Salim said, “It was a horrifying scene. He was tied and beaten like an animal. This is not justice. If there was a dispute, the police should have intervened, not the mob.”
This incident highlights not just an individual conflict but also the growing concerns of violence and mob justice in society. Swift and impartial action by the police is essential to prevent such incidents in the future and to maintain peace and harmony in the community.
