A Dalit woman from Ward No. 4 in Kishni town of Mainpuri district, Uma Devi, has leveled serious allegations against local councillors. She claims that councillors Amit Kumar and Ravi Pal have been threatening to kill her family and are pressuring her daily to withdraw her complaint. Seeking justice, she has filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police (SP), Mainpuri.
According to the complaint, on September 4, 2025, Uma Devi’s husband had taken their goats out for grazing. The goats defecated near a culvert close to the councillors’ houses. Angered by this, both councillors allegedly abused her husband and threatened him, demanding that the road be cleaned immediately or face dire consequences. Out of fear, Uma Devi herself cleaned the public road. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
Uma Devi alleges that when she went to Kishni police station to lodge a written complaint, the officers ignored her plea. She further claims that the councillors have been continuously threatening her, warning that if she does not drop the case, they will kill her entire family.
Taking cognizance of the matter, the Superintendent of Police, Mainpuri, has directed the Kishni police to launch an immediate investigation. He assured the victim that the evidence, including the CCTV footage, will be thoroughly examined and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
The case raises questions not only about local politics but also about administrative accountability. Uma Devi alleges that her complaint was not even registered at the police station, while the accused public representatives continue to exert open pressure. Now, all eyes are on the police investigation—whether justice will be served and how long it will take.
