Imarat-e-Sharia’s SIR Awareness and Training Campaign in Jharkhand Successfully Completes First Phase
The first phase of the awareness and training campaign on SIR (Special Intensive Revision), conducted in Jharkhand by Imarat-e-Sharia Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand, has been successfully completed. The month-long campaign covered more than 56 locations across all 24 districts of the state, with large participation from common citizens, social workers, religious representatives, youth and people from various sections of society.
In a message issued on the success of the campaign, Ameer-e-Shariat of Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal, Maulana Ahmad Wali Faisal Rahmani, said that correct information and timely awareness regarding SIR are extremely important. He stated that Imarat-e-Sharia took this initiative after realizing its religious and social responsibility, with the aim of removing misconceptions prevailing among the people and providing them with a clear understanding of the legal and social aspects involved.
He said that the campaign is not limited to training alone, but is a serious effort to strengthen awareness, trust and mutual cooperation in society.
It is noteworthy that the Election Commission is carrying out the SIR process in several states across the country, including Jharkhand. Ahead of SIR in the state, parental mapping—matching the 2003 electoral roll with the current voter list—is being undertaken. This time, the SIR process is considered more complex than before, as documents such as Aadhaar card, PAN card and ration card have not been included in the list of valid documents in cases where names are not found in the 2003 voter list.
Keeping these circumstances in mind, Imarat-e-Sharia decided to make all citizens aware in time, without any discrimination on the basis of religion, caste or community.
For this purpose, a delegation comprising members of Imarat-e-Sharia’s research team and experts on SIR matters was sent to Jharkhand. The delegation included Mufti Qayamuddin Qasmi, Dr. Hifzur Rahman Hafeez and Maulana Ikramuddin Qasmi. At different stages, the delegation was led by Mufti Mohammad Sohrab Nadvi Qasmi, Maulana Qamar Anis Qasmi, Maulana Ahmad Hussain Qasmi and Mufti Mohammad Anwar Qasmi.
Addressing a press conference, Imarat-e-Sharia Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand Nazim Mufti Mohammad Saeedur Rahman Qasmi said that in the first phase of the campaign, dozens of trained teams have been prepared. These teams will provide practical assistance and guidance to common citizens in matters related to SIR, Form-6 and Form-8.
He said that during the training programmes, prepared material was presented through projectors, question-and-answer sessions were held, and youth were equipped to play an effective role at the grassroots level. In many places, members of the tribal communities also participated actively.
Speakers at the press conference made it clear that the campaign is completely reformative, constructive and non-political. Its sole objective is to make citizens aware of their constitutional and democratic rights and to assist in their protection.
Imarat-e-Sharia expressed confidence that once the formal SIR process begins, these trained teams will work jointly with the public and the administration, without any discrimination, to ensure that no citizen is deprived of the right to vote due to lack of information or documentary complexities.
