Mob Lynching in Hapla (Katihar): 15-Year-Old Tribal Teenager Manzar Rai Beaten to Death Over Bike Collision Dispute; FIR Against 7 Including Patil Kumar Yadav, 2 Arrested; SDPI Delegation Visits

A tragic incident of mob lynching came to light on Monday in the Hapla area of Katihar district, where a minor dispute over a motorcycle collision allegedly led to the brutal killing of a 15-year-old tribal teenager, Mohammad Manzar Rai. The incident has triggered shock and outrage in the locality.

According to available information, an argument broke out following a minor bike collision, during which a group of people allegedly assaulted the teenager, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The names that have surfaced in connection with the case include Nitish Kumar, Patil Kumar Yadav, Sujit Kumar Yadav, Bikki Kumar Yadav, Munna Kumar Yadav and Raju Kumar Yadav.

Insaaf Times contacted Chhitabari Police Station regarding the matter, where Sub-Inspector Tabrez Alam confirmed that an FIR has been registered. So far, two accused have been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Soon after the incident, a delegation of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), including State General Secretary Rizwan Mazhari, Katihar District In-charge Qamar Danish and Mohammad Ashraf, visited the victim’s family. The delegation expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of all possible legal, social and humanitarian assistance.

Strongly condemning the incident, SDPI demanded the immediate arrest of all named accused from the district administration and the state government. The party also called for the case to be tried in a fast-track court to ensure stringent punishment for the guilty and justice for the victim’s family.

Party leaders stated that incidents of mob lynching pose a grave threat to the Constitution, law and order, and social harmony. They emphasized that swift and strict action is essential not only for justice but also to restore public trust in the system.

Meanwhile, the police are continuing their investigation. In view of the tension in the area, security arrangements have been tightened.
