In preparation for the upcoming elections in the Digha Assembly constituency, the CPI (M-L) convened a meeting of its Election Steering Committee. Senior party leaders including Comrade Amar, Politburo member and Legislative Council member Comrade Shashi Yadav, Patna Metro Secretary Comrade Jitendra Kumar, and National Secretary of the labor organization ACTU, Comrade Ranvijay Kumar, attended the meeting. Comrade Divya Gautam, former student leader and the probable Mahagathbandhan candidate for Digha, was also present.
During the meeting, leaders and workers from various localities in the constituency reviewed the ongoing election campaign and decided to form campaign teams in every ward to intensify the outreach efforts.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Amar said that there is widespread dissatisfaction among the public with the NDA government. He criticized the administration, saying that “development in Patna has been a mere façade, with no concrete initiatives for urban poor. People living in slums and pavement shopkeepers are continuously harassed, and the party is fighting their battle from streets to the assembly.” He stressed the need for a focused campaign to warn urban poor about NDA’s false promises.
Comrade Shashi Yadav highlighted that CPI (M-L) had delivered a strong performance in Digha in the last election. As a Legislative Council member, he has furthered development initiatives in the area. He emphasized that the party has consistently fought for women’s and urban poor issues and stated that this time victory for the Mahagathbandhan must be ensured.
Comrade Divya Gautam said that the NDA’s “double engine government” has deceived youth and women. She alleged that student protests faced police suppression while BPSC and other exams are plagued by paper leaks, calling it a major injustice to the future of youth. She stressed that this issue must be raised in the campaign to strengthen outreach among voters.
The meeting also discussed strategies to further strengthen the election campaign, and workers reaffirmed their commitment to securing a party victory in Digha.
