Bihar has set a new milestone in its ongoing farmer registration drive under the Agri Stack scheme. On Sunday alone, over 2.87 lakh farmers were registered, surpassing the campaign’s daily target of 2.48 lakh by nearly 116 percent. Officials say this marks a significant step toward the digital empowerment of farmers in the state.
According to the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, a total of over 16.12 lakh farmers have been successfully registered so far. The number of farmers registered under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has also crossed 10.48 lakh. Department officials attribute this rapid progress to administrative efficiency and robust technical infrastructure.
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue & Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said,
“The farmer registration campaign is a historic initiative to provide digital identities to the state’s farmers. It will ensure that benefits from PM-Kisan and other central and state schemes reach farmers’ accounts directly, transparently, and on time.”
Official figures indicate that the PM-Kisan scheme target in Bihar is 75.01 lakh farmers, leaving around 64.53 lakh farmers still to be verified and covered. District administrations have been directed to run the campaign in mission mode to achieve this goal.
Special camps were organized at the panchayat level on Sunday, which contributed to the large turnout of farmers registering on the spot.
Several major districts recorded impressive numbers: Muzaffarpur – 95,351, Katihar – 69,722, Purnia – 66,765, Bhagalpur – 67,385, Madhubani – 46,926, and Rohtas – 46,366. These districts achieved 150 to 190 percent of their daily targets.
Smaller districts also showed satisfactory progress: Sheohar – 17,715, Sheikhpura – 19,114, Arwal – 10,407, and Lakhisarai – 14,535. Officials said this reflects active participation by local administrations and panchayat representatives.
CK Anil, Principal Secretary of the Revenue & Land Reforms Department, stated,
“The main objective of the farmer registration campaign is to provide farmers with digital identities. This will ensure that benefits from PM-Kisan and future schemes reach farmers directly and transparently. We appeal to all village heads, sarpanches, and panchayat representatives to provide accurate information and encourage farmers to register.”
The state government is now focusing on registering the remaining farmers, completing verifications, and resolving pending cases quickly, aiming to achieve the campaign’s overall target within the stipulated timeline.
