Bareilly Violence: AIMMM Condemns Arrest of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and Police Action

Insaaf Times Desk

The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) has strongly condemned the recent violence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and the arrest of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, head of the Ittihad-e-Millat Council (IMC). AIMMM described these actions as “a violation of constitutional rights” and “an attempt to suppress peaceful dissent.”

At a joint meeting of its Executive Council and General Body on Sunday, AIMMM President Advocate Feroz Ahmed expressed serious concern over rising communal polarization in the country, weakening of democracy, and targeted attacks against Muslims. He stated, “Our most powerful tool is the vote, but today it is being snatched away even from the most vulnerable sections of society. It is time for the oppressed to unite, strategize, and act together.”

The meeting strongly condemned both the Bareilly violence and the arrest of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, reiterating that these were attempts to curb peaceful dissent and violate fundamental rights.

The organization also criticized police actions against individuals raising the “I Love Muhammad” slogan, calling it “a breach of constitutional rights” and “an attack on religious freedom.”

Earlier, on September 26, a demonstration in support of the “I Love Muhammad” campaign in Bareilly turned violent, resulting in injuries to several people, including police personnel. Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan was arrested as the primary accused in connection with the incident.

AIMMM has demanded that all false and politically motivated cases against peaceful protesters be withdrawn and constitutional rights safeguarded.

The organization also warned that if oppression continues, Muslims must unite and fight to protect their rights. AIMMM appealed to all citizens to maintain communal harmony and uphold constitutional values.

The incident has raised serious questions across the country regarding constitutional rights, democracy, and religious freedom. AIMMM’s initiative is seen as a significant step in addressing these concerns.
