Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a controversial statement regarding the “I Love Muhammad” protest in Bareilly, warning that those who challenge law and order will face strict punishment. He added that such people “deserve a ride to hell.”

Speaking at a public rally in Balrampur, the Chief Minister said, “Some people are trying to create a bad atmosphere. These are the same people who promoted identity crises and corrupt governments in UP. Those who were beaten in Bareilly will face the same consequences.”

He also commented on the “I Love Muhammad” posters, stating that those who spread anarchy by handing posters to young children will not be tolerated.

Following a police baton charge at the protest, Bareilly police arrested 39 people in connection with the violence and registered cases against over 2,500 individuals. The main accused, Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, has been sent to judicial custody.

Several political and social organizations have called the Chief Minister’s statement controversial and sensitive. Opposition parties said the government should refrain from politicizing religious sentiments and sensitive issues.
