A public convention and protest march were organized under the banner of the Anti-Oppression Struggle Front outside Ambedkar Bhawan in Mushahri, Muzaffarpur opposing the rising oppression of the poor, Dalits, and minorities, and what activists describe as the “bulldozer raj.” Hundreds of cooks, Dalits, backward-class, poor, and minority youths participated in the event, alongside activists from leftist, socialist, and Bhim Army groups.

The convention was presided over by communist leader Parshuram Pathak, while Bhim Army leader Avdhesh Rajak handled the proceedings. Addressing the gathering, former Azad Samaj Party candidate from the Urai assembly constituency, Aftab Alam, accused the Nitish Kumar government of committing injustice by using bulldozers against the poor, Dalits, and minorities. He directly held the government responsible for the mob lynching of Mohammad Athar Hussain in Nawada and the brutal murder of teacher Komal Kumari in the Mushahri police station area, demanding strict punishment for the culprits.

Communist leader Parshuram Pathak said that incidents of crime are on the rise in Bihar. Under the pretext of removing encroachments, the poor, Dalits, and footpath shopkeepers are being evicted. He also condemned microfinance companies for trapping women in debt, causing them both mental and financial distress. He demanded that the government immediately halt bulldozer operations, ensure proper housing arrangements for the poor, and cancel all debts owed by women.

The convention was also addressed by several leaders including Aftab Alam, Bhim Army District President Ram Naresh Ram, SUCI communist leader Lalababu Mahto, CPI-ML leader Parmanand Pathak, Omprakash Singh, Krishnandan Jha, Jagat Narayan Rai, Tayyab Ansari, Rajesh Ram, Vimla Devi, Sunita Devi, Ganga Ram, Chanchla Devi, Anandi Paswan, and Achhelal Paswan.

Meanwhile, in Ufrauli village of the Urai assembly constituency, another bulldozer operation was reported. The administration used a bulldozer on a private house in Uparoli village of Katai Panchayat. The affected homeowner claimed that the land belonged to her personally and that the action was carried out forcibly.

Protesting this move, Aftab Alam visited the site and raised questions over the administration’s action, terming it “unjust” and demanding justice for the affected family.

The protest and public convention sent a clear message: the people of Bihar are now ready to take to the streets against the rising oppression of the poor, Dalits, and minorities.
