The thought-provoking book Insani Nafsiyaat Ki Girhein (Knots of Human Psychology) by noted young writer, storyteller, and poet Alizey Najaf was formally launched at an impressive ceremony held at the Media Plus Auditorium in Hyderabad. The book was unveiled by former Police Chief Syed Anwarul Huda, in the presence of several distinguished personalities from the fields of education, social service, and journalism.
Addressing the gathering, Syed Anwarul Huda expressed deep concern over the rising incidence of mental health disorders in society. He emphasized the urgent need to address psychological illnesses in a timely manner and safeguard spiritual well-being. According to him, true peace of heart lies in the remembrance of God, and in moments of crisis, offering two rak‘ahs of voluntary prayer and turning towards the Almighty is among the most effective remedies. Citing Western societies as an example, he observed that despite material abundance, mental health issues remain widespread, family structures are weakening, and in the age of social media, individuals often suffer from profound loneliness despite having thousands of virtual connections.
The central figure of the book and renowned psychologist Dr. Mohammed Qutubuddin Abushuja stated that adherence to Islamic teachings is essential for protection against mental illnesses. He underscored that spreading love, initiating greetings of peace (salaam), maintaining a balanced diet, thoughtful reflection, and practicing patience are foundational principles for achieving mental tranquility. Recalling his long association with world-famous boxer Muhammad Ali, he noted that after becoming acquainted with the Prophetic model (Seerat-e-Nabawi), Ali underwent a profound spiritual transformation and developed a deep sense of selfless love for humanity.
Dr. Shujaat Ali highlighted the alarming rise of mental stress in the modern era. He pointed out that many individuals, particularly after retirement, fall into depression due to social neglect. He stressed that mutual affection and ethical conduct are effective means of maintaining psychological balance.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Fazil Hussain Parvez described Dr. Qutubuddin as a personality deeply committed to community service. He characterized the book as a valuable therapeutic guide that could prove highly beneficial for individuals struggling with confusion, doubt, and other psychological challenges.
Dr. Tabrez Hussain Taj remarked that Dr. Qutubuddin’s writings have inspired positive thinking among those grappling with fear and despair. Social activist Rafia Nusheen stated that the book authentically reflects public sentiment, noting that one in every seven individuals in society suffers from mental stress and requires hope and courage.
Professor Dr. Mahmood Siddiqui of Maulana Azad National Urdu University observed that many physical ailments originate from mental conditions. He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture—both at home and in institutions—that acknowledges and appreciates each other’s contributions, thereby creating a positive and supportive environment.
The event was also attended by Maulana Syed Rifat Ali Naqshbandi Qadri, Mushtaq Malik, K. N. Wasif, J. S. Iftikhar, Dr. Anees Manzoor Ahmad, Syed Iftikhar Hashmi, Syed Zuhuruddin, Mohammed Husamuddin Riyaz, Mohammed Abdur Rashid, Dr. Azhar Ansari, Dr. Nazim Ali, Mujahid Siddiqui, Sheikh Kaleem Al-Umoodi, Mohammed Farooq Ali, and several other prominent citizens of the city.
Speakers unanimously concluded that Insani Nafsiyaat Ki Girhein is not merely a book but a serious initiative toward mental and spiritual awakening, delivering a powerful message of hope, love, and balance in society.
