The Uttar Pradesh government’s budget for 2026–27 is expected to be a significant milestone for education, youth empowerment, and the overall development of Ghazipur district, said Professor (Dr.) Raghvendra Kumar Pandey, Principal of the Postgraduate College, Ghazipur.
Professor Pandey described the budget as laying a “strong foundation for a developed Uttar Pradesh” and called it highly welcome. He lauded the 7% increase in the higher education budget, which totals ₹6,591 crore. The introduction of a “Mental Health and Wellness Policy” for students in higher education institutions, he said, reflects the government’s student-centric approach.
For basic education, ₹77,622 crore has been allocated. Of this, ₹650 crore is earmarked to provide free uniforms, school bags, shoes, socks, and stationery for students from classes 1 to 8 in government schools. Professor Pandey also praised the plan to establish two Chief Minister Model Composite Schools and one Chief Minister Abhyuday School in each district. Additionally, under a new ₹580 crore scheme, residential girls’ schools will be set up in blocks where Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas are currently absent.
Highlighting regional development, he welcomed the inclusion of Ghazipur in the “Kashi-Vindhya Area Development Authority,” which will improve infrastructure and connectivity. For youth empowerment, ₹2,374 crore has been allocated under the “Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme” for tablets and smartphones, while the “Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign” will provide interest-free loans, encouraging young people to transition from “job seekers” to “job creators.”
Professor Pandey concluded, “Undoubtedly, this budget will energize the state’s youth and provide a new direction for the comprehensive development of Ghazipur.”
