India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has uncovered an alleged international conspiracy, arresting six Ukrainian nationals and one American citizen in connection with a suspected anti-India terror plot.
According to the agency, the accused were allegedly involved in planning terrorist activities against India, establishing a drone supply network, and maintaining links with armed groups operating in Myanmar. The case was registered under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The arrested Ukrainian nationals have been identified as Hurba Petro, Slyviak Taras, Ivan Sukmanovskyi, Stefankiv Marian, Honcharuk Maksim, and Kaminskyi Viktor. The identity of the American national has not yet been officially disclosed.
Sources indicate that the suspects were detained at different international airports across India, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Immigration authorities intercepted them before handing them over to the NIA.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused had allegedly established contacts with armed groups active in Myanmar’s border regions. Authorities suspect that drones and related equipment were being routed from Europe through India to these groups. The probe is also examining aspects related to drone operations, technical training, and potential weapons usage.
The NIA believes this network could be part of a broader conspiracy aimed at destabilizing India’s northeastern region. However, many links in the network are yet to be uncovered, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The accused have been presented before a court, and the agency has sought their custody to conduct a detailed examination of digital devices, communication channels, and international connections. Investigators are also working to trace funding sources, foreign links, and possible local collaborators within India.
Officials have clarified that no official information regarding the religious identities of the accused is available, and the investigation remains focused strictly on security and conspiracy-related aspects.
Given the seriousness of the case, security agencies remain on high alert, and further major revelations related to this international plot are expected in the coming days.
