The leader of the Hindu Raksha Dal, Bhupendra ‘Pinky’ Chaudhary, was placed under house arrest in Ghaziabad today for security reasons. Despite this, he released a video on social media reiterating his controversial statements.
In the video, Chaudhary claimed that his team had already reached Kotdwar in Uttarakhand and vowed to “remove the ‘Maulana’ mindset of Deepak” (“iski mullagiri nikal denge”). He also warned the administration and police that they would not be able to stop his efforts.
Authorities confirmed that Chaudhary remains under house arrest, but his video constitutes a direct threat. Officials said the matter involves disturbing public peace and inciting communal tension, and strict action will be taken.
The controversy began when Kotdwar gym operator Deepak Kumar added “Mohammed” to his name, stating that all Indians are entitled to equal rights. Following this, several Hindutva organisations launched a campaign against him.
Kotdwar police have increased security and deployed a large number of personnel across the city. The district administration stated that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain peace.
Security officials said the situation is currently under control, but they are prepared for any untoward incident and legal action is ready if required. Additional arrangements have also been made to ensure Deepak’s safety.
