Delhi (Insaaf Times Desk) On 2nd January, the country’s leading English, Urdu and Hindi news portals have decided to create a joint platform at the national level. It was officially announced at the office of Millat Times in Batla House, Delhi, where the platform was named “Cogito Media Foundation”. This platform requested alternative media organizations across the country to be a part of this platform, special emphasis was given to news portals belonging to the minority community, news YouTube channels, YouTubers and social media influencers by initiating membership through Online Form.
Journalists present on the occasion stated that “To protect freedom of press and protect journalistic values in the country, digital media platforms have to fulfill their responsibility unitedly which is only possible through mutual coordination and mutual support.”
The purpose of establishing Cogito Media Foundation was to ensure that, from the national level, digital media platforms will be channeled to the district and block level, and work will be done on journalistic training for all. Along with the establishment of a self-regulatory system that will try to ensure the observance of journalistic principles in all institutions and solve the small and big legal problems faced by journalists and media institutions, as well as launch campaigns to solve the financial problems of media institutions at the level of public awareness.
Journalists associated with Cogito Media Foundation said that today the real problems of the country and the people have been replaced by political turmoil in journalism, and the problems of the oppressed and weaker sections of the country, including Muslims, Dalits, women, and tribals, have been completely ignored. But it has been pushed aside; due to the political and corporate nexus, the poison of hatred is being diluted in society through media organizations, and instead of strengthening democratic values, they have done the job of protecting the political interests of the political owners. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the journalism in the country so that the problems and narratives of those sections are given a strong representation, which are neglected by the so-called mainstream media of the country, and to bring forward journalism based on the real problems of the country and society, which focuses on the development, health, education, economy, protection, and social bonds of society. Better journalistic training should also be given, and workshops and internship programs should be organized for this.
The core members of COGITO include 16 digital media organizations, which are as follows: Millat Times, Maktoob Media,Muslim Mirror,The Cognate,The Observer Post,Haque Media,Nous Network, Baseerat Online,Stories karvan,Clarion India,Asia Times,Milli Digest,Insaaf Times,Journo Mirror,Khabar Adda
Along with issuing membership forms for other media organizations, Cogito Media Foundation has decided to hold a detailed program with new members soon and a major media conclave in the capital, which is being planned and details will be released soon.
